For mild to moderate gum disease, we handle treatment here. A deep cleaning — scaling and root planing — removes the buildup below the gumline where regular cleanings can’t reach. We also use Perio Protect trays, which deliver medication directly into the gum pockets at home between visits, and OraCare mouth rinse for ongoing bacterial control. For moderate to severe cases, we’ll refer you to a periodontist and stay involved in your care.

What is gum disease?
Gum disease is an infection of the gums and supporting bone caused by bacteria that build up in plaque. It ranges from mild (gingivitis — inflammation without bone loss) to severe (periodontitis — bone and tissue damage). At DentCare Now, we treat mild to moderate gum disease in-house and refer more advanced cases to a periodontist.

Is gum disease treatment painful?
We numb the area completely before a deep cleaning, so you’ll feel pressure but not pain. The Perio Protect trays and OraCare rinse are both used at home and are completely painless. Some tenderness after a deep cleaning is normal and resolves within a few days.
Can gum disease be reversed?
Gingivitis — the earliest stage — can be reversed with a thorough cleaning and improved home care. More advanced gum disease can be controlled and managed, but the bone loss it causes is permanent. That’s why early treatment matters so much. The sooner we catch it, the better the outcome.
