How DentCare Now Started
Dr. Rasheeda Johnson and Dr. Dominique Bonner met at Howard University College of Dentistry. Dr. Bonner was two years behind Dr. Johnson, and they became friends during dental school. Years later, working in private practice, they kept running into the same problem: people in pain who couldn't find a dentist who'd see them. People calling office after office on a Saturday. People sitting in an ER waiting room because there was nowhere else to go, knowing the ER couldn't actually fix a tooth.
So Dr. Johnson asked Dr. Bonner a question: why isn't there an urgent care for dental? Nowhere you could walk in with a toothache on a Sunday and actually get help. It didn’t exist, so they built it.
Here's the part that surprised them. Patients who came in for an emergency kept asking the same thing: "I really like it here, can you look at the rest of my mouth?" An emergency practice turned into a real dental home for thousands of people. Now DentCare Now serves patients across the DMV, with some driving in from as far as two hours away, because they need someone who picks up the phone and gets them out of pain the same day. That's still all we do. It's still why we're here.
