About DentCare Now, Emergency Dental Practice Serving the DMV from Fairfax, VA

Two dentists who met at Howard, built an emergency practice, and have been getting people out of pain ever since.

Dr. Johnson and Dr. Bonner at DentCare Now, emergency dentist serving Fairfax, VA

How DentCare Now Started

Dr. Rasheeda Johnson and Dr. Dominique Bonner met at Howard University College of Dentistry. Dr. Bonner was two years behind Dr. Johnson, and they became friends during dental school. Years later, working in private practice, they kept running into the same problem: people in pain who couldn't find a dentist who'd see them. People calling office after office on a Saturday. People sitting in an ER waiting room because there was nowhere else to go, knowing the ER couldn't actually fix a tooth.

So Dr. Johnson asked Dr. Bonner a question: why isn't there an urgent care for dental? Nowhere you could walk in with a toothache on a Sunday and actually get help. It didn’t exist, so they built it.

Here's the part that surprised them. Patients who came in for an emergency kept asking the same thing: "I really like it here, can you look at the rest of my mouth?" An emergency practice turned into a real dental home for thousands of people. Now DentCare Now serves patients across the DMV, with some driving in from as far as two hours away, because they need someone who picks up the phone and gets them out of pain the same day. That's still all we do. It's still why we're here.

How We Run This Practice

Most dental offices have production goals on the wall. We don't. There's no board tracking how many fillings the office did this month, no bonus structure that pays people for talking patients into things they don't need, no "treatment plan" with $8,000 of optional work tacked on while you're in pain. You came to us because something hurts, and that's what we fix.

Pricing is posted at the front desk and you'll get a clear estimate before treatment starts. We're out-of-network with most insurance but submit claims on your behalf and fight for your reimbursement. Without insurance, financing is available to almost everyone. Full pricing details live on the Pricing page.

Dr. Rasheeda Johnson, DDS

Dr. Johnson's mom will tell you she knew early on that dentistry was her daughter's calling. When other kids were grossed out by loose teeth, Rasheeda was the one wiggling hers on purpose. When they did come out, she kept every single one. No, she didn't even want to give them to the tooth fairy.

At age 10, she found out she needed braces — and her insurance said no. That moment stuck. She vowed she'd become a dentist, eventually wore braces four times, and never stopped thinking about the people the system leaves behind. When she looked around and realized there was no Minute Clinic for dentistry. Nowhere to walk in with a toothache on a Sunday and actually get help. So she built one.

Twelve years in, she's created something rare: a dental office that runs on warmth, honesty, and good music. She's the one who makes you laugh so hard you forget you're getting a tooth pulled. (Extractions are actually her favorite procedure. She may be the only dentist you'll ever meet who says that.)

Outside the office, she loves to travel, she's still learning to slow down, and she'll freely admit she probably needs to floss more.

Dr. Dominique Bonner, DDS

Dr. Bonner brings calm and precision to every single case she touches. It's a detail-oriented, educational approach to dentistry that patients describe as reassuring. She's the one who pulls up the x-ray, walks you through exactly what she's seeing, and makes sure you leave understanding your own mouth.

She and Dr. Johnson met at Howard University College of Dentistry, where Dr. Bonner graduated two years behind her now-business partner. They've been in each other's orbit ever since, and the contrast in their personalities turned out to be exactly what Dent Care Now needed.

Dr. Bonner specializes in crowns, bridges, and restorative dentistry, and is the force behind DentCare Now's same-day crown capability.

Outside the office: she's exactly who you'd expect: Steady, thoughtful, and probably the most prepared person in any room.

Common Questions About Our Practice

  • Are Dr. Johnson and Dr. Bonner both available for emergency appointments?

Yes. Both doctors see emergency patients, and same-day appointments are available with whichever of them is in the office that day. If you have a preference, let our front desk know when you call and we'll do our best to schedule you with the doctor you'd like to see.
  • How long have Dr. Johnson and Dr. Bonner been practicing?

Dr. Johnson has been practicing for twelve years. Dr. Bonner has been practicing for about ten. Both completed their dental training at Howard University College of Dentistry and have continued advanced training in implantology, restorative dentistry, and sedation since. Both are NDA 40 Under 40 award recipients.
  • How is this site different from dentcarenow.com?

It's the same practice, same dentists, same office. This site (emergencyroomdentists.com) is the front door for patients in pain who need same-day emergency care. Our main site, dentcarenow.com, is the same DentCare Now practice for general dentistry, cleanings, cosmetic work, and everything else. Two doors into the same office. If you come in for an emergency and want to come back for ongoing dental care, you don't have to switch anything. You're already at DentCare Now.

  • Do you treat children in emergencies?

Yes. We see kids from 6 months and up for dental emergencies. Laughing gas is available when needed, and we walk parents through what's happening and what the options are at every step. Most children's emergencies (chipped teeth from sports, knocked-out baby teeth, severe pain) can be handled same-day.

New Patients Welcome

New patients are welcome any day of the week. We hold same-day slots open specifically for emergency patients, so you can call this morning and be seen this afternoon. Someone answers the phone day or night, and once you book, we text your intake forms straight to your phone so the paperwork is done before you arrive.
